These terms cover your use of the Toris Collection app and this website
(torriscollection.com). We've kept them short and plain. By using the app or the
website, you agree to what's below. If you don't agree, please don't use them.
1. The app is still growing
Toris Collection is free on Google Play, and still being worked on. Features may change, and new birds keep arriving. We may pause, limit, or end the service at any time. Using it is entirely voluntary, and you can stop whenever you like.
2. Provided "as is"
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Toris Collection is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied. We don't promise the app will always be available, error-free, or uninterrupted. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss of data or other damages arising from your use of the app — though we genuinely try to keep it gentle and reliable.
3. The birdsong is always free
Listening and calm are never behind a paywall. The birds' voices, the garden radio, and the healing sound are free to everyone, tester or not. Any paid extras that may appear are only color, small conveniences, or ways to support the project — never the sound itself, and never anything that rushes or pressures you.
Any optional reward ad is exactly that: optional. Watching it is a small way to support us, and choosing not to changes nothing about your garden, your field guide, or the radio.
4. Intellectual property and attribution
The app's design, pixel art, text, and code belong to Toris Collection and its creators, unless noted otherwise. You may use the app for your own personal, non-commercial enjoyment.
The bird recordings you hear are field recordings from the xeno-canto community, used under their respective Creative Commons licenses. Each recording remains the work of its recordist, who is credited inside the app. The recordists and xeno-canto do not endorse Toris Collection. If you reuse any recording elsewhere, you must follow that recording's own license and credit its recordist.
Which bird arrives, and why, is drawn from species-interaction records via GloBI (Global Biotic Interactions).
5. Please don't
When using Toris Collection, please don't:
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code or bulk-download the content, except where the law expressly allows it;
- disrupt, overload, or attempt to break the app, the website, or our servers;
- use the app for any unlawful purpose, or to infringe anyone's rights;
- strip out or misrepresent recordist credits or other attributions;
- resell or commercially redistribute the app or its content.
6. Third-party services
Signing up uses Google Forms; the Android app may show ads via Google AdMob; and the service is hosted on Render. Your use of those parts is also subject to those providers' own terms. How we handle your information is described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the app grows. When we do, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and post the new version here. If you keep using the app after changes take effect, that means you accept the updated terms.
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes will be handled in the courts of Japan, to the extent permitted by applicable law.
